Professional Experience

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2002 and initially gained experience in medicine and surgery, respiratory, oncology, haematology, rheumatology, stroke, elderly care and community services.

I currently work in independent practice, in partnership with a range of organisations, professions and with individuals with varying degrees of disability. I work with clients who present with a wide range of diagnoses including fractures, amputations, spinal injuries, visual impairments, progressive neurological illnesses, and sensory impairments, many clients have a range of physical symptoms. Their needs are often extensive, with all areas of daily living affected. I make recommendations, provide treatment and rehabilitation services to clients who also require equipment (specialist seating or wheelchair provision), adaptations, or additional care. The adaptations or pieces of equipment are often considered ‘major works’, for which I hold responsibilities in the planning (liaising with architects / statutory agencies), implementation, and final approval.

I have experience as an associate rehabilitation manager, which has allowed me to develop my working practices with complex cases. In addition, prior to moving into independent practice I worked as a senior OT for an adult physical domiciliary service.
