Professional Experience
I qualified as a physiotherapist in 1989 and completed a range of core rotations in the NHS. I later completed a BA (Hons) in Health Studies and developed a specialist interest in amputee care, with a focus on prosthetic rehabilitation.
I have extensive experience working with amputees from the post-operative stage through to discharge from prosthetic rehabilitation. Throughout my career, I have treated all levels of lower limb amputation, including high-level hip disarticulations and bilateral amputees. I also have experience rehabilitating war veterans with multiple limb loss and high-specification componentry. I work closely with the MDT at an NHS limb centre, with a particular focus on improving patient mobility and outcomes through the use of microprocessor knees.
Professional Development
From 2022 to 2024, I served as the Northwest Representative for BACPAR. This role involved supporting colleagues, organising biannual study days, and participating in national meetings. I also maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by regularly attending training relevant to amputee rehabilitation.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
