Professional Experience

I qualified in 2001 and have over 20 years’ experience working as an occupational therapist in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

I am currently working within a Health & Social Care Partnership as an Advanced Practitioner, Occupational Therapist, carrying a clinical caseload of adults with functional motor skills deficits.

I assess and support individuals with neurological conditions, including spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, MND, MS and brain injury, as well as frail elderly patients with stroke, heart disease, osteoarthritis, and fractures. My role includes discharge planning for trauma and elective hip replacements, ensuring equipment and care packages are in place for safe community reintegration.

I collaborate with physiotherapists to support clients with learning disabilities, identifying rehabilitation aids and facilitating access to day centres and supported living. I also work closely with social workers, local authorities, and charities to coordinate comprehensive care packages tailored to individual needs.

Professional Development

I am a qualified trainer for moving & handling and provide certified training on the theory and practice for safe moving & handling to staff using equipment such as hoists, stand-aids, specialist seating and beds.

I am trained on the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills, Model of Human Occupation, Moving & Handling theory and practice, report writing and assessment skills.

I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.
