Professional Experience
Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist in 2010, I have specialised in neurology, with a particular focus on brain injury. My clinical expertise spans physical, sensory, and cognitive rehabilitation, including vocational rehabilitation. I am proficient in posture and seating assessments, upper limb splinting, and sensory and cognitive assessments and treatment. I have developed a strong specialism in cognitive rehabilitation, applying these skills across diverse client settings to assess impairments and implement targeted strategies for education and recovery. I routinely design and manage rehabilitation programmes to support return-to-work goals, liaising directly with employers to facilitate workplace adjustments. My practice also includes enabling community access, recommending home adaptations, supporting leisure and social engagement, and advising on care packages and equipment needs.
In 2018, I commenced work as an independent OT; working with clients who have medico legal cases, where I complete thorough assessments and write comprehensive reports. In 2023, this type of work has continued via Helen Harrison Occupational Therapy Ltd. I am adept at communicating with solicitors and other members of the multi-disciplinary team and can communicate complex information.
Professional Development
I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
