Professional Experience

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2007 and began my career on a vascular unit, where I developed a strong interest in wound care. In 2009, I transitioned into specialist nursing and have since gained extensive experience as a Tissue Viability Nurse. I work autonomously, managing complex care plans and conducting detailed assessments for neonatal, paediatric and adults through both in-person and virtual consultations. My clinical expertise includes diagnosing and managing pressure ulcers, burns, cellulitis, surgical wounds, osteomyelitis, and necrotising fasciitis. I collaborate closely with surgical and orthopaedic teams to determine appropriate treatment strategies for patients with complex tissue viability needs.

Currently, I serve as the Clinical Lead for the Tissue Viability Service. I oversee the development and implementation of local policies and protocols for pressure area care and wound management, ensuring alignment with national and international best practice. I lead the Trust’s response to pressure ulcer-related patient safety incidents, applying a systems-based approach under the NHS England Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF). I have designed and implemented a Pressure Area Care Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), integrating national guidance, incident reviews, audit findings, and stakeholder feedback to drive measurable improvements in care delivery and harm reduction.

Professional Development

As Clinical Lead, I am responsible for the Trust’s Tissue Viability training programme. I deliver tailored education sessions to a wide range of staff, from NHS new starters to senior clinicians and consultants. These sessions are grounded in current evidence and best practice, and are designed to support clinical competence and improve patient outcomes. I regularly review and update Trust documentation to enhance care pathways and ensure consistency with evolving clinical standards.

I am an experienced presenter and routinely report to internal governance bodies such as the Patient Safety Group, as well as external stakeholders including the Integrated Care Board (ICB). My reports incorporate both quantitative and qualitative analysis and are used to provide assurance on service performance and patient safety improvements.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
I am trained in both quantum and liability cases.
