Professional Experience

I qualified as a nurse in 2003 and have worked across both acute and community settings. My early career focused on stroke management, including rehabilitation and hyper-acute care. In 2012, I transitioned into community nursing, where I developed a specialist interest in wound care. This led to my appointment as the Community Tissue Viability Nurse, supporting district nursing teams in managing complex wounds in patients’ homes.

In 2024, I became the Tissue Viability Lead Nurse, responsible for the operational delivery of the service. I manage a team of four staff, overseeing rosters, sickness absence, and appraisals. My clinical responsibilities include direct support for patients with complex wounds such as pressure ulcers, lower limb ulcers, surgical wounds, and trauma wounds. I am proficient in advanced wound care techniques including VAC therapy, compression bandaging, doppler studies, and conservative sharp debridement. I also deliver training on tissue viability to a range of healthcare professionals, including medical students, registered nurses, and student nurses. I have developed expert-level skills in the assessment, categorisation, and treatment of pressure ulcers.

I routinely investigate reported cases to determine the origin and progression of pressure damage, identifying areas for improvement and implementing learning actions. I am also highly experienced in the assessment and management of lower limb ulcers, with daily practice aligned to current clinical guidelines. My role involves reviewing patient care plans to ensure adherence to best practice and to optimise healing outcomes.

Professional Development

I maintain up-to-date knowledge of national standards and evidence-based approaches in wound care and tissue viability. My leadership role requires continuous professional development and the ability to translate clinical expertise into service improvement and education.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
I am trained in both quantum and liability cases.
