Professional Experience

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2005 and have worked in critical care since qualification, specialising in the assessment and management of acutely unwell patients with multi-organ dysfunction. I have extensive experience in both direct patient care and leading multidisciplinary teams, with a strong focus on maintaining clinical governance and improving patient safety.

My clinical expertise includes: airway management (endotracheal and tracheostomy care), invasive line care and cannulation, phlebotomy, intravenous medication administration, continuous haemodialysis, wound assessment and complex wound management, epidural care, prone positioning, recognition and management of infiltration and extravasation injuries, and care of the unconscious patient.

I routinely review adverse events and clinical incidents using structured case review and root cause analysis methodologies. I am the Chief Investigator for the StopVAP NIHR study.

Professional Development

I have led clinical audits and quality improvement programmes and served as the principal investigator for a research project. My contributions to patient safety and clinical audit have been formally recognised through multiple awards, including:
