Professional Experience
Since qualifying as a Registered Adult Nurse in 2012, I have developed extensive clinical expertise across urgent and primary care settings. My current role combines clinical practice with leadership responsibilities as Deputy Manager of an advanced nursing team within an out-of-hours primary care provider. I independently assess, diagnose, and treat patients across the lifespan, utilising blood test interpretation and non-medical prescribing. I manage minor illness presentations autonomously and escalate acute cases appropriately, liaising with specialties including medicine, surgery, gynaecology, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, and paediatrics. I am trained in Immediate Life Support and competent in emergency screening and intervention, including CPR.
I have completed IRMER training, enabling me to assess and request radiological investigations including X-ray, ultrasound, CT, and MRI within local policy. I refer patients independently for specialist input, including suspected cancer fast-track pathways, based on clinical assessment and red flag screening.
My previous roles include three years in daytime General Practice, where I gained experience in long-term condition management and acute care. This setting enabled me to build therapeutic relationships with patients and broaden my diagnostic and referral skills. I also held junior and senior nursing positions in a Minor Injuries Unit, which laid the foundation for my advanced clinical practice.
Professional Development
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychosocial Science (2008), a Graduate Diploma in Adult Nursing (2012), and an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (2021) and am qualified in mentoring and non-medical prescribing.
I collaborate with the education team to ensure access to current research and best practice guidelines, and I mentor junior colleagues to maintain high standards of care. I regularly participate in audits, case reviews, and clinical supervision to ensure ongoing professional competence and credibility.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
