Professional Experience

Registered as a general adult nurse in September 2011, I have developed a robust clinical background across older persons’ medicine, emergency medicine, and gastroenterology, including frontline work during the COVID-19 pandemic. My career began in secondary care NHS organisations, where I progressed through roles as staff nurse, junior nurse practitioner, ward manager, and matron. I have specialised in elderly care, gaining expertise in assessing complex clinical needs and risks, both in hospital and primary care settings.

In my current role as a nurse practitioner, I work within care home settings to support GP practices in reducing hospital admissions and promoting health at home. I independently assess, diagnose, treat, and plan care for patients with a range of conditions including COPD, diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, acute infections, and palliative care needs. I routinely interpret blood results and clinical tests to initiate timely treatment. Since qualifying as a non-medical prescriber in 2023, I have prescribed and monitored acute and long-term medications, including controlled drugs and palliative care treatments. My responsibilities also include safeguarding, mental capacity assessments, falls prevention, and supporting care homes during complaints, CQC inspections, and commissioning reviews. My experience includes managing vulnerable patient groups and supporting care providers in meeting regulatory standards.

Professional Development

Throughout my career, I have maintained a strong focus on clinical governance and quality improvement. As a ward manager and matron, I led teams, managed complex caseloads, and implemented service improvements. I have also contributed to training and mentoring junior staff, promoting best practice in elderly care and long-term condition management. I maintain my professional development by attending relevant training.

Medico Legal Experience

My experience includes preparing detailed, evidence-based reports for coroner investigations, clearly outlining clinical care, decision-making, and circumstances surrounding patient deaths. I have presented evidence in coroner’s court as a factual witness and responded to questioning, demonstrating clarity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
