Professional Experience

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1996 and I specialised in the field of hand and upper limb therapy, including brachial plexus, burns rehabilitation and rheumatology, working with both adults and paediatrics. I developed a particular interest in managing complex hand injuries and burns and working closely with individuals to optimise recovery and facilitate a return to independence in their life and work roles. I have extensive knowledge and experience in my specialist fields. I started a hand therapy and scar management private practice in 2001.

I left the NHS in 2021 to focus solely on private practice. In this role, I assess and treat adults and paediatrics with upper limb injuries, including, but not limited to, acquired upper limb disorders, elective hand and upper limb surgery, scar management, polytrauma and rheumatology.

Professional Development

I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.

I maintain my knowledge and skills in the field of burns by participating in the British Burns Association burn therapists special interest group, being involved in teaching, email discussions, attending training updates, conferences and meetings and networking locally, nationally and internationally online.

I am a member of the British Association of Hand Therapists (BAHT) and receive the Journal of the European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy as part of my membership. I attend regular regional BAHT meetings to remain current and regularly post about clinical issues and hand therapy matters on social media and participate in frequent discussions with other hand and upper limb therapists and hand surgeons.
