Professional Experience

I am a Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist with over 20 years’ experience in both the NHS and independent sectors. I specialise in the assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex communication, eating, drinking and swallowing needs, including those associated with autism, neurodevelopmental conditions, acquired injuries, and genetic disorders. My practice is underpinned by a neurodiversity-affirming approach, ensuring that assessment and recommendations are meaningful, person-centred, and evidence-based.

I have a detailed understanding of statutory processes governing special educational needs provision, with extensive experience of assessment, report writing, and the provision of expert second opinions within the framework of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in England. My practice encompasses statutory funding processes across the UK, ensuring that clinical findings are evaluated within the appropriate legislative context to inform decisions on provision and placement.

I am the Director of a nationally commissioned independent practice recognised for its specialism in complex needs and autism/neurodiversity. The service provides assessment, intervention, consultation, and training across health, education, and social care sectors.

Professional Development

I take an active interest in clinical research so that I can ensure that my practice remains evidence-based and current. I am a member of Special Interest Clinical Groups in the areas of dysphagia (eating, drinking and swallowing disorders) and complex needs. I have completed a number of post-qualification courses including PECS, Intensive Interaction, Makaton signing and ELKLAN. I am an ELKLAN trainer. I also maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.

Medico Legal Experience

In my medico-legal capacity, I prepare independent expert reports based on detailed clinical evaluation and in accordance with medico-legal standards. My opinions are impartial, robust, and articulated to a high professional standard to assist tribunals and the courts to provide clarity in judicial and statutory proceedings.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
