Professional Experience
I qualified as an adult nurse in 2009 and began my career in emergency care at King’s College Hospital, London. Over two years, I developed core competencies in clinical triage, recognition and management of acutely unwell patients, and a wide range of practical skills including plastering, suturing, ECG interpretation, venepuncture, cannulation, and life support. In 2011, I moved to Malawi to run a walk-in clinic at a district hospital, working autonomously in a role equivalent to an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP). This involved assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries, including tropical and infectious diseases, often without access to diagnostic tools. Between 2012 and 2015, I worked as a locum emergency nurse in the UK, interspersed with further clinical work in Malawi.
Since 2015, I have worked in Urgent Care, completing my ENP qualification in 2017. I currently serve as Clinical and Operational Lead for an Urgent Treatment Centre, where I maintain a clinical caseload alongside responsibility for governance, CQC compliance, complaints, incident management, and the development of clinical pathways and policies. I am IRMER trained and routinely request and interpret X-rays of the appendicular skeleton, hips, and chest in both adults and children. I also contribute to departmental X-ray audits to ensure diagnostic accuracy and patient safety.
Professional Development
I completed my Non-Medical Prescribing qualification in 2019 and am an active prescriber within my specialist area. I am the Medicines Management Lead for my department, overseeing the review and audit of Patient Group Directions (PGDs), supporting junior staff in prescribing decisions, and ensuring safe and effective medicines use. I am nearing completion of an MSc in Advanced Practice, further consolidating my clinical and leadership expertise.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
