Professional Experience
I qualified in 2011 and am the first HCPC-registered Orthotist in the UK with an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. My specialities include lower limb assessment, orthotic intervention, gait analysis, neurological orthosis, and spinal bracing. I have also completed Level 7 modules in medical image interpretation for lower limb and spinal triage and diagnosis, and hold a diploma in foot health, thereby expanding my clinical expertise.
I am the Director of Great Gait LTD, I work with several case managers and have a number of orthopaedic consultants who refer patients for gait analysis and custom-made orthotics for both children and adults. I also provide regular multidisciplinary clinics with neuro physiotherapy teams in the Northwest of England.
My previous experience was as the Orthotic Clinical Lead at the Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust for seven years. Before that, I worked as a contracted orthotist in NHS trusts across the UK, handling complex cases involving diabetes, musculoskeletal, and neurological conditions. I have worked in gait laboratories, producing detailed pre- and post-intervention reports. My expertise includes assessing and prescribing knee, ankle, and foot orthoses, orthopaedic footwear, trauma spinal, and scoliosis bracing. I am skilled in traditional fabrication methods and advanced 3D printing, scanning, and limb capture techniques.
Professional Development
Over the past three years, I have collaborated with Pam Enderby (OBE) to develop an orthotics outcome measure, training over 70 UK orthotists. I have been invited to speak at the national conference, delivered lectures at the University of Salford, and led teaching sessions for AHP colleagues on orthoses and biomechanics.
I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers, having completed formal medico-legal training and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) for expert witnesses.
