Professional Experience
Since qualifying as an adult nurse in 2017 from the University of Bradford, I have developed a broad and robust clinical portfolio. My early career was spent in one of Yorkshire’s busiest emergency departments, where I gained hands-on experience in resuscitation, high-dependency care, majors and minors management, ambulance and waiting room triage, and paediatric emergency care. I later transitioned to a community-based role focused on end-of-life and palliative care, which required a high level of autonomy. Responsibilities included administering controlled drugs, managing syringe drivers, symptom control, verifying deaths, and coordinating with district nursing teams and out-of-hours services.
In 2020, I began working in a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), caring for infants from 22 weeks’ gestation. My role encompassed emergency deliveries, ventilatory support, intubation, management of hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE), meconium aspiration, and end-of-life care. I also supported the neonatal emergency transport team in stabilising and transferring critically ill neonates. I currently hold the position of Neonatal Risk and Governance Lead, where I oversee incident reviews, conduct after-action analyses, and manage serious incident investigations in collaboration with clinical site matrons and multidisciplinary teams. I continue to maintain clinical competence through regular NICU shifts.I am proficient in managing complex clinical scenarios and have developed strong communication and documentation skills, particularly in high-risk and time-sensitive environments.
Professional Development
My career has been underpinned by continuous professional development across multiple specialisms. I have undertaken formal training in neonatal intensive care, emergency nursing, and palliative care, with a strong emphasis on clinical governance and patient safety. My current leadership role involves applying root cause analysis methodologies and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
