Professional Experience
I qualified as an adult nurse in 2004 and spent six years on a surgical high dependency unit, gaining substantial experience in acute and post-operative care.
In 2010, I transitioned into clinical research nursing, working across multiple specialties including critical care, emergency medicine, surgery, and rheumatology. This led to a focused interest in rheumatology, where I later became a clinical nurse specialist.
In this role, I run independent nurse-led clinics, providing patient education, reviewing and adjusting treatments, and monitoring for adverse drug reactions. I administer a range of medications including cytotoxic agents, monoclonal antibodies, chemotherapy, and bisphosphonates. I am proficient in venepuncture and cannulation and trained in managing drug reactions, spillages, and extravasation. As a qualified non-medical prescriber, I have experience in prescribing, medicines management, and investigating medication errors. I also supervise and assess junior staff, contributing to workforce development and clinical governance.
Professional Development
I hold a Master’s degree in Medical Ethics and Law, which has enhanced my understanding of the legal and ethical frameworks governing clinical practice. This academic foundation supports my decision-making in complex clinical scenarios and informs my approach to patient care and professional accountability. My ongoing involvement in staff training and mentorship reflects a commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical competence and professional integrity. I also maintain my professional development by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
