Professional Experience
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2012 and have since worked in the NHS specialising in neurology; in particular brain injury since 2013. I have treated clients with a variety of neurological conditions including acquired, and traumatic brain injury across the pathway from acute, specialist inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation. This has helped me to develop a sound understanding of a patients journey and potential past, current and future care and rehabilitation needs. I have experience in physical, sensory and cognitive rehabilitation including vocational rehabilitation.
I am currently employed as an NHS brain injury rehabilitation case manager and a health coach on an associate basis. I deliver health based vocational rehabilitation to patients with chronic health conditions to support the patient to manage the effects of their health condition and return to work.
I am proficient in providing rehabilitation and interventions including postural management, cognitive assessments, vocational rehabilitation, assessment of activities of daily living, upper limb splinting, equipment provision, and fatigue management. I have experience in recommending care packages and equipment including training carers in the use of moving and handling equipment. I am also experienced in delivering vocational rehabilitation to help clients return to work. This includes liaising with employers to explain impairments and possible changes to work role.
Professional Development
I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
