Professional Experience
I qualified as a midwife in 2011 and have worked at Colchester Hospital since then, specialising in antenatal and intrapartum care within maternity triage and the delivery suite. I have held Band 6 and Band 7 roles, including CDS Coordinator, where I was responsible for managing clinical workloads, overseeing patient safety and acuity, and responding to both routine and emergency midwifery cases. I held the maternity bleep and was accountable for the operational management of the maternity unit. My responsibilities included coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing staff deployment, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards.
I maintain ongoing clinical practice as a registered bank midwife and as a Private Sonographer at a weekly ultrasound clinic, providing third-trimester foetal surveillance. This dual role ensures my expertise remains current and aligned with contemporary midwifery standards and clinical protocols.
Professional Development
In 2015, I completed a Level 7 qualification in third-trimester fetal sonography, which enabled me to deliver advanced fetal surveillance services within the NHS. In 2021, I joined the University of Suffolk as a Lecturer in Midwifery, where I led the Research Project and Clinical Skills modules. My academic role required the application of national midwifery guidelines and standards, which I embedded into curriculum design and delivery.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
