Professional Experience

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1987 and have since developed a broad and varied career across general practice, community care, and specialist nursing roles. I currently work as a Practice Nurse in a GP surgery, where I lead on diabetes care and complex case management. My responsibilities include prescribing, titrating, and discontinuing oral medications, initiating GLP-1 receptor agonists, and managing insulin therapy. I also oversee the management of associated conditions such as albuminuria, hypertension, and hyperlipidaemia. In addition to face-to-face consultations, I run a remote diabetes clinic twice weekly, managing patients independently unless referral to secondary care is required.

My clinical practice also includes cervical cytology, immunisations (primary and adult), contraception, hypertension management, travel health, and tissue viability. I have worked across multiple GP surgeries to gain diverse experience and insight into varied patient populations and service models.

Prior to my current role, I worked in the Health and Social Care sector for seven years, supporting patients with complex needs including elderly care, learning disabilities, and life-limiting conditions. I also held roles in medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and neurosurgical wards, and worked in a high-security male prison. My experience includes both UK and international practice. I was previously employed by Marie Curie, where I was nominated for the Marie Curie Peacock Award in recognition of exceptional contributions to end-of-life care.

I have held clinical lead and management roles throughout my career and am experienced in service delivery, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Professional Development

I hold a PGDip in Advanced Practice (2011), a PGDip in General Practice Nursing (2018), and a PGCert in Diabetes. I have completed Level 7 training in Diabetes Care, including the PrePITstop and PITstop Advanced Diabetes courses, and the Merit Insulin Initiation course. I am also a Level 7 Independent Nurse Prescriber and hold a Diploma in Cardiovascular Disease. My professional development reflects a sustained commitment to clinical excellence, particularly in diabetes care and chronic disease management.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
