Professional Experience

I am an experienced occupational therapist and case manager specialising in the field of brain injury and qualified in 1992. I have worked as a case manager since 2012, predominantly with clients who have sustained a traumatic brain injury. I have also gained considerable experience with major trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In my case management role I complete Initial Needs Assessments, and set up and oversee rehabilitation. I have experience of managing large therapy teams, as well as setting up and monitoring care packages.

In 2008, I transferred to a social services occupational therapy service. I assessed for and provided equipment, including for Disabled Facilities Grants, as well as completing manual handling and carer assessments and setting up care packages.
Prior to this in 2005, I was approached to set up an occupational therapy programme for a new social services home care team specialising in dementia. This work included setting goals for care staff and liaising with them regarding ongoing intervention.

Following qualification as an occupational therapist in 1992, I worked in various neuro-rehabilitation units, and was the head OT in two departments. I gained considerable experience working with people following a brain injury, ranging from those in a minimally aware state, to high level difficulties with executive functioning. In my head of department roles I managed a team of therapists.
