Professional Experience

I qualified as an occupational therapist from Coventry University in 1999. I have since specialised in working with adults and older people who have complex health and social care needs as a result of injury or illness. I have particular expertise in managing the needs of those who have complex musculoskeletal injuries, amputations, spinal cord injury, cauda equina syndrome, and peripheral neurological injuries, as well as those undergoing orthopaedic, vascular and general surgical procedures.

I worked in the NHS until 2011, since then I have worked as an independent occupational therapist and case manager. I am skilled at undertaking comprehensive functional assessments and devising holistic, realistic and outcome-focused care and rehabilitation plans for individuals. I provide and oversee input at all stages of the rehabilitation process and understand how to navigate and access related services across the statutory and private sectors. I am able to utilise diverse and bespoke approaches to rehabilitation to enable people to overcome functional difficulties and re-engage with purposeful and meaningful activities. I have also been involved in recommending and managing care and support packages.

Professional Development

Since 2018, I have been involved in delivering training and providing support to other healthcare professionals working as case managers and expert witnesses. In 2020, I successfully completed my Cardiff University Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate (Civil) and in 2023 I was accepted as a full member of the Expert Witness Institute.

I also maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.

Medico Legal Experience

I have provided expert witness services since 2011.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
