Professional Experience

I qualified as a midwife in 2012 and have worked across all areas of midwifery, including intrapartum, antenatal, and postnatal care, in both hospital and community settings. In 2014, I began specialising in bereavement midwifery while also serving as coordinator of the delivery suite. In 2016, I was appointed Band 7 lead for the bereavement service and established the Rainbow service, supporting pregnancies following loss. I led both services until 2020, when I undertook a secondment in fetal medicine and screening.

In June 2021, I became Band 7 service lead for fetal medicine, a role I held until January 2024. I am currently the Lead Bereavement Midwife for the Trust, a position that includes clinical intrapartum shifts and ongoing practice in the Maternity Assessment Unit, as well as antenatal and postnatal care in the community. My expertise spans bereavement care, abortion services, high-risk pregnancy, pregnancy after loss, patient safety, fetal medicine, and screening.

Professional Development

I have led multidisciplinary teams and collaborated with a range of professionals including coroners, pathologists, safeguarding teams, palliative care providers, and perinatal mental health services. I am trained and experienced in obtaining consent for post-mortem and genetic testing and have contributed to numerous statutory and clinical reviews. These include reports for the Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP), MBRRACE (Mothers and Babies: Reducing Risk Through Audits and Confidential Enquiries across the UK), and Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT). My work consistently involves detailed case analysis, risk assessment, and service improvement initiatives.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
