Professional Experience
I qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) in 2013 and began my career in adult acute inpatient services. Since then, I have worked across a wide range of adult mental health settings, including Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams (CRHTT), A&E liaison, medical assessment units, psychiatric intensive care units (PICU), and secure inpatient environments. I also have significant experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
I specialise in core aspects of mental health nursing practice, particularly care planning, risk assessment, risk management, and documentation standards. My clinical expertise spans personality disorders, autism spectrum disorders, psychotic illnesses, and mood disorders. This is underpinned by advanced knowledge of pharmacology, medicines management, and statutory frameworks including the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Alongside frontline clinical work, I have led service improvement initiatives focusing on reducing restrictive practices and improving safety outcomes for patients and staff. I also bring experience in clinical governance, physical health monitoring, infection control, and incident management.
In 2025, I was appointed as a Mental Health Inspector for the Care Quality Commission (CQC), covering the Lincolnshire area, giving me a regulatory perspective on the quality and safety of mental health services across the sector. I continue to work flexibly across adult acute inpatient wards, PICU, and acute hospital settings. This enables me to remain clinically current as both a regulator and a frontline nurse, ensuring continued practice in risk assessment, documentation, medicines management, and application of statutory frameworks across ward-based and wider acute care services
Professional Development
I maintain high standards of professional conduct in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code, and maintain my professional development by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
