Professional Experience

I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2011. I have years of experience assessing and supporting individuals with complex communication and dysphagia needs, I provide expert recommendations to facilitate their development. I am highly skilled in AAC and complex communication, from assessment to therapeutic intervention.

I currently work independently with clients who have a range of complex diagnoses, supporting both their dysphagia and communication needs. I also provide weekly consultancy services in a trauma-informed SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) provision, supporting young people with neurodiversity, attachment difficulties, and trauma. These individuals require bespoke education programs with integrated therapeutic support.

For eight years, I was a highly specialist speech and language therapist within an educational setting, working with children and young adults with a range of complex needs. My role focused on empowering them to reach their full potential. Many of these individuals had lifelong conditions resulting from birth injuries, genetic or chromosomal syndromes, or acquired disabilities. All experienced communication and/or eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties due to their complex needs. As part of my clinical work, I led the dysphagia service and worked extensively with AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). I also gained a strong understanding of educational funding, review, and monitoring systems within the EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plans) process.

My early career involved working in an adult learning disability team, supporting clients with autism, cerebral palsy, multi-sensory impairment, and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) with complex communication and dysphagia needs. I also worked in a medium secure mental health hospital, providing support to clients with a variety of mental health conditions, as well as those with learning disabilities, brain injuries, progressive neurological conditions, and dementia.

Professional Development

I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training. I also stay up to date with the latest research, best practices, and technological advancements to ensure the highest quality support for my clients.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses. I am trained in both quantum and liability cases.
