Introduction

I qualified as a Podiatrist in 1999, and have worked as a Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist at Kingston Primary Care Trust (now called Your Healthcare, a social enterprise company) since 2001.

In my current role I am responsible for department compliance with NICE guidelines and the National Service Framework (NSF) for diabetes. I am one of two DESMOND trainers within Your Healthcare and I provide training once a month. DESMOND is a nationally recognised structured education programme for people who have been recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

The programme takes a day to deliver and covers all aspects of diabetes care and healthy lifestyle choices, delivered in structured, interactive sessions. I run a weekly specialist diabetic foot clinic at Kingston Hospital jointly with a Vascular Surgeons, Diabetes Consultant and Tissue Viability Nurse. This is a high-risk multidisciplinary clinic for patients with complicated diabetic aetiologies who need regular specialist care and / or need investigations / treatments that cannot be carried out in the community setting.

Additionally I hold specialist wound care clinics in community. In my role I am also responsible for providing training and teaching to nurses, health care assistants and care workers on diabetic foot care. I provide one to one mentorship on the diabetes foot care section of the Kingston University diabetes course for nurses. I am the contact person for all doctors and Health Care professionals of all disciplines for advice on diabetes foot matters for Your Healthcare and Kingston Hospital NHS Trust.

I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.

Professional Affiliations

I am a member of The Health and Care Professionals Council and The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. I am HPC registered. I also belong to The Tissue Viability Link Group and Your Healthcare Diabetes Forum.
