    Introduction

    I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2000, and currently work as a generalist community Occupational Therapist in an integrated service covering 5 Cambridge City GP practices.

    The key responsibilities of my role include:
    • Managing a complex caseload of adults with physical disabilities with both health and social services needs
    • Acting as lead on the reablement therapy service which involves short term rehabilitation of patients who have recently been discharged from hospital and have input from intermediate care support workers. The aim of the reablement service is to reduce the number of future social care calls or become independent
    • Providing complete recommendations for major adaptations for level access showers, stairlifts, steplifts and through floor lifts and, ground floor extensions
    • Completing reports for housing providers for re-housing of patients with specific environmental needs and completing specialist seating assessments
    • Giving presentations at case conferences and meetings for safeguarding of vulnerable adults
    • Completing complex moving and handling assessments and recommendations including training of informal carers and sourcing specialist equipment to meet the specific needs of that patient
    • Completing the 'duty therapy function' which involves taking new referrals for admission avoidance, early discharge cases and terminally ill patients
    • Screening of new referrals and identifying relevant pathway from the single point of access team
    • Managing and supervising junior staff

    My general skills and experience include:
    • Extensive knowledge and experience working as a generalist community occupational therapist with, a background and interest in neurology
    • Exceptional assessment and task analysis skills to provide optimum client centred treatment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent ability to work under pressure aided by exceptional organisational and prioritising skills
    • Effectively work as part of a multidisciplinary team

    I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
