MSc Advanced Practice (Health and Social Care), RGN, PGC Clinical Research, ENB 100
I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1993 and began my career working in a general critical care unit where I gained ten years' experience caring for a broad spectrum of patients with surgical and medical conditions. Following this I took a post establishing a critical care outreach service across the division of Heart and Lung. This post enabled me to gain experience of managing critically ill patients in a ward environment, expediting timely transfer to critical care and facilitating measures aimed at preventing avoidable deterioration.
I completed an MSc in Advanced Practice Health and Social Care in 2007, a Non-medical prescribing course in 2010 and post graduate certificate in clinical research in 2011. I have worked clinically as an Advanced Nurse practitioner in acute care settings and have extensive experience in Cardiothoracic and general surgical acute nursing practice.
I have experience implementing NICE guidance, developing and implementing policies and conducting local, regional and national audit / surveillance. I have undergone Root Cause Analysis Training and have experience in incident and disciplinary investigations.
I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
