RGN, Adaption to NMC Registration, Independent & Supplementary Prescribing, Diploma in Diabetes Care
I am a Practice Nurse / Nurse Practitioner and Prescriber who has worked in Primary Care for 12 years. I have worked mainly in General Practice but also in an Out Of Hours service undertaking triage and face to face initial assessment examination and diagnosis. Prior to this I worked in secondary healthcare on surgical wards with two years in the Day Unit Endoscopy Department at Cheltenham General Hospital.
My interests and skills also include women’s health - particularly sexual health and initiating contraception, sexual health screening and cytology.
I am experienced in chronic disease management for COPD, Asthma and Diabetes including spirometry and insulin initiation.
I also undertake chronic disease reviews, adjust medication and have carried out home visits in the past to monitor housebound patients for these conditions.
I treat my patients holistically, assessing minor illness when I see the patient at home for their chronic disease problems.
I have significant experience in administering childhood immunisations and providing advice and vaccinations regarding travel health.
Over the years I have developed my skills as a generalist practitioner in Primary Care services although my current work tends to focus more on respiratory medicine , women’s health and ‘On the Day’ face to face minor illness clinics at two GP surgeries.
In addition I have supervised Health Care Assistants and mentored student nurses.
I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
