BSc Occupational Therapy
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2002 and have specialised in paediatrics since 2003 where I have worked in clinical, educational and community based settings.
My work has involved the assessment and treatment of children with varied congenital and acquired conditions, although a large amount of my casework is with children who have Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Dyspraxia. My experience includes an extensive key working role within the arena of the care co-ordination network which involves the co-ordination of care for children with complex needs who are engaged with multiple agencies.
Individual assessment and intervention has involved a variety of clinical and standardised assessments as well as twenty four hour postural needs assessment.
I am an advanced practitioner in sensory integration and a manual handling adviser and trainer and have conducted a number of manual handling training sessions and risk assessments for group educational staff and for individual parents and carers.
In 2013, having spent thirteen years in the NHS, I began working part time as an independent practitioner. In 2015 I stopped working for the NHS and now work solely as an independent occupational therapy practitioner. My caseload continues to reflect that of my NHS work, but now involves more children who have been awarded clinical negligence payment which has provided me with some valuable experience surrounding the legalities of care.
I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
