MSc, MSCP, Grad Dip Physiotherapy
I qualified in 1992 as a Physiotherapist from the Liverpool School of Physiotherapy, and I have specialised in the field of Paediatrics since 1994 working predominantly in the NHS. Since 2009 I have developed my Private Paediatric Physiotherapy Practice. I have been employed by Brainwave for 2 days a week since 2010 and as an Associate Lecturer at Edge Hill University from 2011.
At present I am providing in-depth assessments for children with complex physical disabilities with a variety of core diagnosis, treatment, training of carers, and programme development for these children. I also undertake medico-legal assignments on cases involving children. I provide lecturing on subjects as requested by the University.
I have considerable experience treating children and young people with Cerebral Palsy, as well as other paediatric conditions such as Erb's Palsy, syndromes and development co-ordination difficulties. I have assessed and treated children age 0-19 with physical difficulties due to a neurological, musculoskeletal and / or genetic basis for 15 years. I have always carried a mixed case load of children of different ages and with diverse types of difficulties. I have extensive experience of treating children with Cerebral Palsy, developmental coordination difficulties, Erb’s Palsy and orthopaedic difficulties especially in the under 12’s. I have worked in physical difficulties and learning disability schools in St Helens and Knowsley. My caseload in Warrington and West Lancashire has contained mainstream school and family care. I have worked closely with social care and education.
In addition, I also write medico legal reports for Somek and Associates. I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
