Introduction

I am an Occupational Therapist specialising in the field of rehabilitation of people with physical disabilities; my special interests are in gerontology, orthopaedics (lower and upper limbs including traumatic amputation, hand injuries, elective hand surgery and rheumatology), multiple pathology, general medical and surgical conditions including amputees, and care/case management. I worked for the NHS from 1995 to 2010 in various guises, including specialist occupational therapist, rehabilitation case manager and culminating in therapy manager at a rehabilitation facility in Cheshire. From 2005, I undertook comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention with adults and older people outside of the NHS, alongside completing expert witness work.

I have also lectured Occupational therapy students at Glyndwr and Bangor University and interviewed for the Occupational Therapy intakes on several occasions.

I joined Somek and Associates as an expert witness in 2005, since then I have written many medico-legal reports being instructed by Claimant, Defendant and as a single joint expert. I have undergone training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses. In addition, I am employed by Somek and Associates as a casework supervisor, mentoring a range of other experts and reviewing case reports.
