    Introduction

I qualified from The University of Liverpool in 2002 and have since worked in the field of physical disability. My main area of expertise is neurology, where I began to gain my experience from 2004 in acute and rehabilitation settings. However, during my career I have also worked within various areas including care of the elderly, intermediate care, orthopaedics and rheumatology.

I have experience of providing occupational therapy to highly complex clients with a variety of other neurological illnesses or injuries including stroke, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, Parkinson’s, GBS and motor neurone disease. My clients frequently have other existing medical, orthopaedic or mental health conditions which I also consider during the therapy and rehabilitation process. I have significant experience of assessing clients within the home or work environment for rehabilitation, equipment, adaptations and care.

In 2012, I completed an MSc in Professional Development at the University of Salford, focusing on specific areas within my clinical practice in neurological rehabilitation including vocational rehabilitation, fatigue management and evidence based neurological therapy interventions. Through this I was able to extend my clinical and theoretical knowledge, as well as developing my critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.

In addition, I undertake medico-legal assignments through Somek and Associates where I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers, to prepare Care and Occupational Therapy reports. I have undergone training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.  My medical legal casework has included clients with complex neurological, physical or psychological difficulties, frequently with complex pre-existing conditions. I have provided oral evidence in court.
