Introduction

I qualified as an occupational therapist in 2001 and have worked in a number of fields including adult learning disabilities, paediatrics and child and adolescent mental health. I currently work in a London school for children with specific learning difficulties such as autism, sensory processing difficulties, ADHD, and dyspraxia. I also carry out some independent OT assessment and intervention with children.

I am experienced in supporting children with dyspraxia to learn new motor skills and I am trained in the cognitive orientation to occupational performance. I am experienced in working with children with ADHD, and autism, I have worked with children with these conditions both in the paediatric service setting and child and adolescent mental health setting. I am trained in the Alert approach ‘How does my Engine Run?’ and experienced in using the Zones of Regulation Programme.

I have a post graduate certificate in sensory integration and I recently spent time at the Star Institute for Sensory Processing Disorders in Denver, USA for an intensive mentorship in sensory processing disorders. I am experienced in working with children who have sensory needs both in terms of sensory regulation and the impact on carrying out successful motor skills.

I also have experience of writing Education Health Care Plans and Occupational Therapy reports in support of EHCP applications. As part of my work in a school I regularly contribute to Individual Education Plans ensuring goals are appropriate to the child’s specific needs.

I am a member of the Children Young People and Families specialist section of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and presented a poster at their 2017 conference.

I accept instruction from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
