BSc (Hons), RGN, ENB 998, ENB 100, ENB Critical Care Nursing
I have been qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1992, and have had the opportunity and experience of undertaking several different roles during my nursing career. Initially I worked on general surgical, medical and orthopaedic wards before training in Intensive Care and Critical Care Outreach Nursing for 14 years, where I advanced to the role of Senior Sister.
Since 2008 I have undertaken roles as a Practice Development Nurse, as a Lead in Project Development and supporting students in their working environment while also undertaking a clinical nursing role on a Day Care Unit, supporting the wards and recovery. I have also spent several years working as a Research Practitioner for the comprehensive local research network. More recently, I supported the setting-up of trust linked community discharge service for surgical patients, working clinically in the community while also setting up operational policy, and best practice guidelines for the acute hospital.
In my current role I work as part of the Macmillan Urology Nurse Specialist Team and provide support and information for patients diagnosed with a urological cancer. These include prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular and penile cancers. I have experience in cancer nursing and in the care and support of patients with a urological disease and their families and carers. I work closely with the urology consultants involved in the patient’s care, support patients with a urological cancer from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
I currently specialise in patients requiring radiotherapy treatment or surgery to remove their prostate. The urology nurse specialists work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working closely with Consultants and other healthcare professionals.
I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
