BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy
I qualified as an Occupational therapist from Southampton University in 2003. I am an experienced Occupational Therapist in the area of neurology, specialising in acquired brain injury, stroke and long term neurological conditions.
My main area of expertise is in the assessment and treatment of clients with cognitive, physical and behavioural difficulties as a result of their injuries and I have over 6 years’ experience of working within the field of neurology. My experience includes working in acute hospitals, rehabilitation units and providing community rehabilitation both in the public and private sector. Prior to specialising in Neurology I have gained experienced in the areas of paediatrics, forensic mental health, acute surgery / medical and elderly rehabilitation.
I have worked in the private sector alongside the NHS since 2009 and left the public sector to work independently in 2011. I currently work as a specialist Neuro Occupational therapist for Krysalis Rehabilitation Consultancy, where I provide assessment and treatment to adults and young people with neurological conditions.
The large majority of my current role is focused on cognitive and vocational rehabilitation, upper limb rehabilitation and identifying long term equipment and environmental needs, including social and psychological factors in order to predict long term need. This includes liaising with case managers and solicitors to ensure the client’s needs are clearly identified and addressed. Referrals are generally received via case managers and solicitors.
I also work on an ad hoc basis for Reach Personal Injuries Services where I take on the role of Programme Manager for adults and young people who have experienced head injuries and would benefit from rehabilitation. This role generally specialises in cognitive and vocational rehab and includes supervising a programme assistant to work with the client on a regular basis. Alongside this I do some occasional case management work and take on private referrals within the area of neurological rehabilitation.
I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone
formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
