Introduction
I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1986, and a Registered Midwife in 1989. I have significant experience in District Nursing and Palliative Care, Practise Nursing, Women's Health, Sexual Health and Family Planning.

I currently work as an Operations Manager, 24 hour District Nursing & Palliative Care, for Central London Community Healthcare Barnet. The key functions of my role are as follows:
♦ Overall managerial responsibility of the service and staff within Barnet Community Services District Nursing and Palliative Care Service
♦ Responsibility for securing and assuring the highest standards of clinical services by providing strong supportive leadership and management, providing professional nursing advice and guidance
♦ Promotion and development of a culture of continuous improvement within the District Nursing Service in order to meet stretching financial, quality and performance targets.
♦ Ensuring that all clinical practices within the service are safe and effective, reflect findings in research and so demonstrate that service provision is of the highest quality.
♦ To act as an expert resource for the District Nursing and Palliative Care Service for Central London Community Healthcare Barnet and partnership agencies
♦ To provide professional clinical leadership, support and advice to the nursing workforce within the District Nursing Service
♦ To identify and facilitate education and training for registered and non-registered nursing staff. A particular focus on driving the outcomes of the End of Life Care CQUIN and key performance indicators pertinent to the service
♦ Be a principle driver in the teaching and development of all clinical staff within the service, developing and implementing a competency framework for all bands of staff within the service
♦ To work with staff who are under performing, providing objective assessment, setting action plans, evaluating and reviewing performance
♦ Identify education needs and plan, implement and evaluate formal and informal educational programmes for registered nurses and healthcare assistants within a formal and clinical setting utilising effective presentation skills
♦ Participate in the delivery of training programmes by co-ordinating study days in line with service requirements ensuring translation of learning into competent practical skills

Prior to this, since 1990, I worked as a Nurse Manager / Senior Nurse in the field of Contraception and Sexual Health. I am a trained fitter of contraceptive devices, including Implanon and intra-uterine contraceptive devices.
