Introduction
Having qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 I have many years of nursing experience, working in secondary care and primary care. Since 2004 I have been employed by Primecare, Cardiff (Nestor Healthcare Ltd) as a Home Teleconsultation Triage Nurse. My responsibilities are multifold and include:
♦ Working as a triage nurse, for GP out of hours prioritising care, offering home care advice, discriminating between normal and abnormal findings and offering appropriate care options, working within agreed protocols.
♦ Nutricia Nurse Advice Help line – giving advice to patients and carers throughout the country on enteral feeding out of hours from home.
♦ Clinical Auditor for Triage Nurses, GP and HM Prison Service
♦ Infection Control Cascade Trainer
♦ Non Managerial Clinical Supervisor
♦ Occupational Health – Audiology, spirometry, management referrals
♦ Telemedical Consultation Nurse – working as part of the medical underwriting team, communicating with medical insurance customers, interviewing clients via health questionnaires on behalf of Legal & General. One of the founder members of the pilot scheme, which contributed to the successful outcome of securing a contract for Primecare.
♦ TAS Embedded Cascade Trainer – delivering training to groups and individuals; training, assessing, monitoring and reviewing progress (supportive software). Responsible for accrediting trainees. Reporting back to senior managers.
In addition I also undertake medico-legal work for Somek & Associates. I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
