Introduction
I have been working full time as an Occupational Therapist since qualifying in 1977. Over this period I have spent many years working for local authorities where I have worked with a wide range of people with complex needs, both adults and children, with significant acute and chronic disabling conditions. These have included traumatic orthopaedic injuries, amputations, spinal injuries, brain injury, degenerative neurological conditions and impaired hearing and vision. During this time I have specialised in advising on accommodation needs and negotiation of care packages to support individuals in their own homes. I commenced working as an independent practitioner in 2000 and since then I have developed my interest in vocational rehabilitation undertaking case management as part of a programme offered by a major insurance provider to assist Claimant's return to work.

Increasingly since 2006, I have undertaken a variety of roles predominantly focusing on case management.
These have included:
♦ Case management of clients with catastrophic injuries who have outstanding personal injury claims to meet their treatment and rehabilitation needs
♦ Case management of personal injury Claimants as part of a vocational rehabilitation programme offered by a major insurer to assist their return to work
♦ Completion of independent Immediate Needs Assessments for solicitors and insurers
♦ Workplace assessments to identify adjustments to facilitate return to and retention in work for a major government department
♦ Mentoring of other independent Occupational therapists providing support, review of reports and auditing of files
♦ Care and daily living assessments for insurance providers
♦ Temporary contracts for local authorities both in assisting clearance of occupational therapy waiting lists and team management
♦ Service development projects for local authorities including development of an Occupational therapy post within a housing department and advising on contracting out an integrated equipment stores

Throughout my career I have undertaken a variety of management roles both in the development of services and in the support of staff. I still enjoy this aspect of my work and continue to offer supervision and mentoring to other Occupational therapists on a private basis.
I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
