Introduction
I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1983, I have specialised in the field of nephrology since 1985. I have extensive clinical experience, have lectured widely in my field of expertise and have undertaken significant research into nursing related matters. I have also completed a number of publications and presentations both at national and international level. My expertise is in the areas of haemodialysis (acute and chronic renal therapy), peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation. Additionally, I also have experience of hepatobillary, colonic surgery and general surgery.
I am currently Director, of Multi Professional Programmes (Post Registration / Continuing Professional Development) and Principal Lecturer in Nephrology at the School of Health and Social Care, Teesside University, where I have significant teaching responsibilities at Masters, Graduate and Undergraduate levels.
Key responsibilities include:
♦ Overall strategic management of CPD and undergraduate Post Registration framework. Contribution to practice support for pre-registration students across RN – Diploma , BSc Nursing programme in capacity as ‘Zoned academic Link’ tutor
♦ Module Tutor and programme leaders for level 2 and level 3 renal modules within undergraduate framework.
♦ Examiner and assessor of student summative work.
♦ Lecturer in diverse modules within the CPD framework (critical care, diabetes, surgical care practitioner, long term
conditions, teaching and assessing in clinical practice).
♦ Overall responsibility for curriculum review of Post Registration framework within school. Chairperson of committees (Post Reg Framework Committee, Level Two Advisor Group).
♦ Direct teaching responsibilities to BSc Nursing, and MSc Nursing students. Dissertation supervision of BSc and MSc students on various programmes.
♦ Representation on School of Health committees (Learning and Teaching Committee, School Policy, School Academic Standards, International Committee, Quality and Enhancement Group).
♦ Project lead for implementation of Inter-Professional Education across 11 programmes within school – Chairperson of School IPL Implementation group.
I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
