Introduction
Since qualification as an Occupational Therapist in 1999 I have developed a special interest and specialist skills in neurology, including assessments in specialist seating, environmental controls, splinting, cognitive rehabilitation and community rehabilitation.
I am currently working in independent private practice with the company MaxIndependence, which provides private Occupational therapy intervention and Animal Assisted intervention for adult clients with neurological impairments, offering thorough assessments, specifically tailored goal directed intervention in the most appropriate locations (home, local community, workplace) and regular review / evaluation.
In my previous role I was employed as a Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist by Brent Primary Care Trust where I held the role of Lead clinician for inpatient rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury and other neurological impairments. This role involved undertaking specialised assessment of functional activity, cognitive, perceptual, sensory, motor, inter and intrapersonal aspects and skill performance; treatment planning and intervention via client-centred goal planning, therapeutic programmes, including ward, home and community based and provision of individual and group therapy within an evidence based framework. I had lead involvement in spasticity management clinics, including assessments for intervention with Intrathecal Phenolphaline and Botulinum toxin.
I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
