Frances Critchley

Introduction
I qualified as a Occupational Therapist from the Derby School of Occupational Therapy in 1985. Following a period gaining general experience in hospital and community settings, I then specialised in the field of Paediatrics in 1998.
I have worked in both community and educational settings and in both mainstream and special schools. Most of my work has been with children and young people who are physically disabled, have a learning disability, or who are on the autistic spectrum.
Since 2010 I have worked in independent practice. I have been contracted to work in an independent special school, with a clinical paediatric role, setting up the Occupational Therapy service there. I also work with individual clients. I combine being an independent practitioner with locum work, which requires the ability to work independently at a high level and with a varied caseload.
I continually update my knowledge and skills in order to maintain my CPD. I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedures Rule (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
