Introduction
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1979 and have had many years experience at a very senior level working in the field of paediatrics in a variety of environments, including Lonsdale Special School, Stevenage, Hertfordshire; General Community Paediatrics, Northwick Park Hospital; Adults & Children with Learning Difficulties, Harrow; Paediatrics, Northwick Park Hospital. I am currently employed as a Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist by Harrow Social Services where my specific remit is to assess children with complex needs with regard to meeting their needs in the home environment. During my career as a paediatric Occupational Therapist I have treated children with a wide range of disabilities both physical, learning and profound and multiply disabled. Most of my work has been with physically disabled children attending mainstream schools, in special schools and in nurseries and at home. I am particularly experienced in all aspects of Cerebral Palsy.
I joined Somek & Associates in 1998 as a paediatric Occupational Therapy expert, since when I have written many medico-legal reports following instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses. I am on the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. I have also given evidence in Court.
