Introduction
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1995. Since qualifying, I have gained clinical experience in the following areas: elderly care including multiple pathology, amputees, Parkinson's disease, chest conditions; orthopaedic trauma to both lower and upper limbs including traumatic amputation. I have also gained experience in elective orthopaedics, including hip, knee and spinal surgery; hand injuries and elective hand surgery; care / case management, rheumatology; neurological rehabilitation; acute adult psychiatry; general medicine and cardiology. Since 2005 I have undertaken comprehensive assessment and intervention with adults and older people including vocational rehabilitation outside of the NHS.
I am currently engaged in private independent work on request from diverse organisations such as Insurance companies, Housing associations, Case management companies or other referring agents for occupational therapy assessment and intervention for adults and elderly people with mainly physical disability.
I have also lectured Occupational therapy students at Glyndwr and Bangor University and interviewed for the Occupational Therapy intakes on several occasions.
I joined Somek and Associates in 2005 since when I have written many medico-legal reports being instructed by Claimant, Defendant and as a single joint expert. I have undergone training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
