Introduction
I qualified from The University of Northumbria with a BSc Hons in Occupational therapy in 1995. My main area of expertise is in adult mental health and community rehabilitation related to physical disability. I have significant experience of assessing client need within the home environment for aids, adaptations, care and rehabilitation. I also have extensive experience of assessing and providing treatment for many mental health conditions including depression, substance misuse, schizophrenia, personality disorder and post traumatic stress disorder.
I joined Somek and Associates in 2004 as an Occupational therapy expert, and have since written a range of medico-legal reports following instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
I am currently a full-time Independent Practitioner and continue to be engaged as a freelance expert for Somek and Associates.
