Introduction
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in South Africa in 1988. I have experience in a variety of acute and rehabilitation settings in South Africa, the UK and Australia, but have specialised in neurology since 1993, working with clients with a wide range of neurological disorders, including brain injury and stroke. I also have a special interest in cognitive dysfunction. After working as a Head Occupational therapist and lecturer in neurology I now work as a Consultant Occupational therapist and psychotherapist.

I currently work in a private practice as a Consultant Occupational therapist (since 2001) and Psychotherapist (since 2008). My psychotherapy work involves a wide range of both short and long term clients and requires the use of a variety of psychological approaches according to the needs of the client.

I joined Somek and Associates in 2001 and have written many reports for the Medico Legal Services, being instructed by both Claimant and Defendant. My case work involves the detailed assessment of clients with neurological or psychological problems, such as traumatic brain injury, stroke and post traumatic stress disorder. I have also given oral evidence in Court. I have undergone training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
